Add mandatory fields to the form

Adding mandatory fields to a form in Mautic ensures that you collect essential information from your users. This process is crucial for maintaining data quality and ensuring that all necessary information is captured before form submission.

Steps

  1. Log in to your Mautic account.
  2. Navigate to the Forms page by selecting Components and then Forms.
  3. Select the form you want to edit from the list of existing forms.
  4. Click on the form to open its details.
  5. Click on the Edit button.
  6. Go to the Fields tab to view the list of fields in the form.
  7. Search for the field you want to make mandatory or add a new field if it doesn't exist yet.
  8. Click on the pencil button to open its settings.
  9. Navigate to the Validation tab within the field settings.
  10. Switch the Required slider to Yes to make the field mandatory.
  11. Optionally, add a validation message to inform users that the field is required.
  12. Save the changes to the field.
  13. Repeat the process for any other fields you want to make mandatory.
  14. Save the form to finalize the changes.

Results

  • Mandatory fields are indicated with a red asterisk.
  • Form submission is blocked until all mandatory fields are completed.
  • Users receive validation messages if they attempt to submit the form without filling in mandatory fields.

Success

Be mindful of the number of mandatory fields you include. Too many required fields can deter users from completing the form, especially if they feel that the information requested is not directly relevant to their inquiry.
